Na wao! The more you look, the less you see in this country. Bail is sometimes refused by judges and magistrates for one frivolous reason or the other even when the offence alleged is a bailable one. But here is a judge granting bail to armed robbery/murder suspects when the DPP’s advise is not out, What were the special circumstances that led the judge to grant this bail? Who were the sureties and were they arrested when the accused persons jumped bail? The Chief Judge of Lagos State, should urgently query the judge that granted the bail. The NJC can as well show interest in this. In serious offences involving murder and armed robbery, bail, as a matter of rule and practice, is not granted to the accused. It is only when special circumstances exist (like the accused having a serious ailment and may die in detention if not released to go for treatment) that bail is granted to such accused persons. In this case, what are the special circumstances relied on by the Judge?
